Laura Uhle, Guide
I grew up in Fairview Park and married my high school sweetheart, Marty, after I graduated from MetroHealth’s nursing school and he from Wittenberg University. I stayed with MetroHealth and worked as a registered nurse for 13 years. I left the hospital when we moved to Charlotte, North Carolina and then to Princeton, New Jersey; we moved back to Cleveland 15 years ago.
We have two grown sons (who both graduated from Wittenberg as well). Ryan and his wife, Amanda, live in Baltimore and Steven is closer to home in Akron working with the Goodyear blimp. We share a dog with Steven.
I often think I am a reluctant Cleveland sports fan. My father took me and my sisters to many sporting events; we’ve rooted for some good – and not so good – teams through the years. Having two boys interested in sports, they became the perfect ticket partner for my husband for Cavs, Indians, and Browns games. Now that they are grown with lives of their own, I have suddenly become that ticket partner. Fortunately, our broadway series tickets at Playhouse Square provide us consistent good entertainment.
I volunteer in the classroom with the Breakthrough Schools and am a spontaneous volunteer with many other organizations in the city and with our church.
I enjoy gardening, decorating and renovating houses. (We’ve owned nine!) Tennis, golf, and exercising keep me busy year round. When I’m not able to play in Cleveland, I am able to take advantage of the warm weather at our second home on Sanibel Island, Florida.
