EA staff on 32nd floor of new Hilton Hotel in CLE.
Monday, October 19, 2015 – The largest hotel in downtown Cleveland (600 rooms) is on target to open in June of 2016, just in time for the Republican National Convention. Teri Agosta, the General Manager of the hotel, a recent transplant to Cleveland via Arizona and an EA “alumni” herself, led our staff on a hard hat tour of the space on our EA University monthly outing to educate and inspire all of our Guides. Here’s what we learned:
- Currently, the hotel has 20 staff members, but the hotel will ramp up to 400 by the opening.
- Turner Construction has anywhere from 200-400 workers on site each day depending on which trades are busy on a piece of the project that day.
- The hotel will have one of the largest ballrooms in NE Ohio (up to 1,800 guests), and it will feature giant windows and natural light overlooking beautiful downtown buildings and the lakefront.
- All art in the new hotel will be locally sourced, and you still have a chance to get in on a giant mural of selfies that will be prominent in the lobby by clicking here.
- The hotel will include Eliott’s Bar, named with a wink and a nudge for Eliott Ness who was not only Cleveland’s Safety Director during the Prohibition years but who also enjoyed a nip or two himself as legend has it.
- Burnham will be the name of the restaurant on the 2nd floor that features breakfast, lunch and dinner and is named after Daniel Burnham, one of the most famous and revered architects to work in Cleveland in the early 1900s. He designed the Group Plan that changed the face of downtown Cleveland, creating a grouping of classically styled Beaux-Arts buildings in a Civic District close to the lake.
- Bar 32 will be one of the hottest new spots in all of Cleveland with sweeping views of downtown and the lakefront and an open air patio for warm weather months.
