EA Finance Manager Tonia Yard
Celebrating our 40th anniversary this year and each of our staff members is sharing one of their favorite go to places in Northeast Ohio. Our Finance Manager (and Project Manager) Tonia Yard picked Szalay’s Farm & Market located in Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Szalay’s has been in the same family for four generations, first opening as a vegetable farm in 1931. Now, they focus on growing sweet corn (they picked their first corn of the season last week!) and have a beautiful market selling produce and other local eats such as baked goods, honey, and maple syrup. At their market, you’re invited to dine al fresco every weekend as they serve hot-off-the-grill burgers and sandwiches, ice cream, and of course, freshly picked corn. Kids love sitting in their gliding bench seats or on the giant swing.
Looking forward to Fall
It’s not autumn yet, but the hot weather this summer makes everyone long for it! In September and October, Szalay’s has every size of pumpkin imaginable for sale along with apples and cider. However, the main attraction is the three-acre corn maze featuring a different theme each year. Its challenging enough for adults to enjoy yet fun for little ones too. With entry into the maze you can also experience their “Spinning Barn” and enjoy other games on the farm.
Whether you are driving through the National Park, or biking or hiking to Szalay’s front door on The Towpath Trail, the trip is beautiful and there will be ice-cold lemonade waiting upon arrival.
