Wednesday, June 28, 2017: Tonight we hosted our annual EA Introduces, a gathering at my home every June to connect all of the career women we helped relocate to NE Ohio to each other and some local peers. Some of the women were the primary recruit and their job was the reason for their family’s relocation to Cleveland or Akron. Others were the “trailing spouse,” who are career women in their own right, and looking to plug into their new town. It’s a good night of Women Power!
The women represented the following companies:
- American Greetings
- Cardinal Health at Home
- Cleveland Clinic
- Eaton Corp.
- Interlake Steamship Company
- Nestlé
- Parker Hannifin Corp.
- University Hospitals Health System
All the newcomers had relocated to NE Ohio within the last year. The Cleveland/Akron area gained new talent from the following cities:
- Scottsdale, AZ
- Glendale, CA
- Irvine, CA
- Lafayette, CA
- Sand Diego, CA
- Bourbonnais, IL
- Chicago, IL
- Buffalo, NY
- Westwood, MA
- Rockville, MD
- Dexter, MI
- Dallas, TX
We also invited past EA alums and local non-profit leaders to act as a welcoming committee and to provide them with an instant set of “girlfriends” in their new town to help them find whatever they need. I heard newcomers ask about babysitters, dentists, hair salons, veterinarians, biking trails, one tank trip weekend ideas, and places to buy furniture, pizza and shoes. Executives from the following organizations were included in the welcoming crew to share local resources:
- The Animal Protective League
- Case Western Reserve University (Flora Stone Mather Center for Women)
- Cleveland Museum of Art
- Cleveland Museum of Natural History
- Cleveland Zoological Society
- Conservancy for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park
- The Music Settlement
- National Alliance of Mental Illness
Networking and connections are just one small part of what Executive Arrangements provides to transferring executives and their families to help them feel warmly welcomed, connected, and knowledgeable about the people, places, and resources they need to know in NE Ohio to quickly develop roots and feel at home.
