Catching Up with EA Alum Marie-Laure le Levreur

by | Jun 2, 2017 | Newcomer Profiles

A little over a year ago, Executive Arrangements introduced you to Arthur and Marie-Laure le Levreur, a wonderful couple that relocated from France to Cleveland in January 2016. Arthur accepted the contrôleur financier industriel position at Tarkett, a French flooring manufacturer with North American headquarters in Solon. EA was hired to show this couple how Cleveland would be a good fit for their lifestyle and then tasked with helping them acclimate through EA’s settling in services.
We recently caught up with Marie-Laure to see how Cleveland is treating her and to see what she enjoys about her new home…
What did you think of Cleveland prior to your visit with EA? Prior to our move to Cleveland, we didn’t really have any impressions of Cleveland or Northeast Ohio. There were definitely not any set expectations or bad opinions prior to our tour of the region. We are originally from the North of France, where the climate is similar to Cleveland but without lake effect snow.
How have your opinions changed since you relocated? Now that we are settled in University Heights, we have been pleased by how well the city is organized and equipped to handle the snow! Due to the city’s preparations, Cleveland’s ‘famous’ snowfall is not disruptive to day-to-day life. Cleveland has proven to be a city full of surprises. Our new home is convenient to all of the amenities offered by Cleveland, including great grocery stores! Plus, our community has proven to be a wonderful neighborhood for great walks. Our positive impression of Cleveland has not diminished with time. The quality of life available in Cleveland is wonderful, and its residents are quite warm and welcoming.

How has EA helped with your Northeast Ohio education and acclimation? EA provides great, high level services for anyone moving to Northeast Ohio, especially for people acclimating to a new culture. After our EA tour, I have reached out to EA guides, Peg and Caroline, when in need of a good doctor recommendation and other local tips. Peg was even able to introduce me to two other EA alumni who have become great friends. The connections that EA offers are wonderful.
What are your favorite places or activities that are unique to our region that all newcomers should visit? If someone is visiting or new to the region, they must see the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Cleveland Museum of Art. We like to visit Chagrin Falls to enjoy its quaint atmosphere. Some of our favorite restaurants to frequent include Fire in Shaker Square and Dante in Tremont. Chef Dante’s tasting menu is nice for a special occasion. And, being French…we do enjoy Edwins in Shaker Square.
Does your company need help recruiting and retaining top talent in Northeast Ohio? EA can introduce your recruits and new hires to Cleveland, Akron, or Canton and help them see NEO as home. Call us at 216.231.9311.
