NOTE: EA created this blog as a courtesy to those trying to find a rental. However, we are NOT a rental agency, and we can’t help you find rental or temporary housing. Our expertise in this area is reserved strictly for the recruits and newcomers our corporate clients hire us to assist.
You’ve just accepted your dream job in Northeast Ohio and it’s time to pack your bags! But you just aren’t quite ready to purchase a home. Executive Arrangements has helped you find the right neighborhood for your family, but maybe you want to test drive the neighborhood before you commit or maybe your family won’t be joining you until the end of the school semester. You need to find rental housing that suits your lifestyle and your family and you are looking for something more than an apartment or corporate housing. While it’s true that the rental market is very tight, there are still options available to suit your family’s needs.
Looking for something fully-furnished…
There are a variety of websites aimed to help you conveniently secure temporary housing.
Airbnb: A trusted community marketplace for people to list, discover, and book unique accommodations at any price point.
HomeAway: Offers a variety of websites in its brand family, including VRBO and Luxury from HomeAway.
Want to use your own furnishings…
If you and your family wish to use your own furnishings, your best bet for finding great rentals is through real estate search sites like…
HotPads: A great website with a genius map search feature.
Trulia: A tried-and-true website that highlights crime rates, schools, commute times, shopping, restaurants, affordability, etc. in the areas your family is considering.
Zillow: An online marketplace that empowers consumers with data and knowledge when searching for the right home.
Or, through a local real estate agency such as Howard Hanna or Keller Williams. Most realtors would be happy to help you secure a great rental home, especially when they know you intend to purchase in the future. You can always find beautiful homes for rent in a variety of neighborhoods.
If you found a home for sale that you would like to rent, you could always ask your agent to make the request. You might be surprised; the homeowner could agree to a short-term lease. This is what the movie stars do when filming in Cleveland. They find a gorgeous home for sale and then make an offer to rent it for a few months.

I’m glad you talked about how you may be able to rent a home that is for sale if you talk with your agent and they put in a request for you. That’s helpful because now we’ll keep homes for sale in our options rather than only looking for rental homes. We need to rent a place for the next 2 years or so, and I’d love to be able to just rent it so that we can move back to our old location after the 2 years.
