So you are interested in living an urban lifestyle and downtown Cleveland is calling you? While the population of children in downtown Cleveland is limited (we didn’t really have much of a residential community until about 5 years ago) it will growing as more school options are coming on line.
Many of the schools listed below have waiting lists, but we encourage you to explore and strongly advise visits to schools that you are interested in prior to signing a lease. Many of the schools in downtown are designed to be intentionally diverse (in every way) and you have to be comfortable with that as they are a different experience than suburban schools. And, several years ago, Cleveland Municipal School District (CMSD) became an open enrollment school system, meaning you can choose the school you want your children to attend VS the one that is geographically closest to your home or the one you are “assigned” to. As a result, many magnet type schools have sprung in which specialize in a certain kind of learning environment.
Birchwood School, 4440 W. 140th Street (close to the airport), Prek-8th grade private school
Campus International – 3001 Chester Avenue, Cleveland, fairly new CMSD “new & innovative school” with excellent ratings, adding class years as they grow, currently K-7th
Menlo Park Academy – 14440 Triskett Road K-8 public school for gifted children
Tremont Montessori, 2409 W. 10th Street (Tremont neighborhood) PreK-8, CMSD school
